Review: Gucci Dionysus GG Supreme Mini Bag

26 November 2018 - 1 Comment

Only recently, I realized that I never review any products, more strangely that I never thought about it? When I used to blog on Blogspot years and years ago, I did it all the time.

When I think about reviews, beauty or hair products jumps straight in my mind but not fashion. So, now I’m planning to blog more about high street and high end products that I love also ones I wouldn’t recommend.

My first review this month is going to be on my newest addition to my collection – the Gucci Dionysus GG Supreme Mini Bag that I purchased from Farfetch.

But before we start, here are a few questions I ask myself each time
  1. Occasion or everyday bag?
  2. How much am I willing to pay?
  3. Do I own a similar one already?

I also ask my husband and family for opinion and when I buy it, I’m sureit’s the right one. The Dionysus GG mini was no difference, I wanted a versatile bag that looks classy and literally goes with anything. Size was extremely important to me too as it need to have enough space for my essentials but not too big and heavy. If you follow me on Instagram, you’d probably noticed the numerous photo shoots I had with it.

Product details from Gucci

  • Beige/ebony GG Supreme canvas, a material with low environmental impact, with taupe suede trim
  • Antique silver-toned hardware
  • Tiger head spur
  • Hand-painted edges
  • Hand-stitched details
  • Pocket under the flap
  • Pin closure with side release
  • Shoulder strap with 40cm drop or top handle with 23cm drop
  • Mini size: W20cm x H15.5cm x D5cm

Why I love it

The first thing I have to say it’s the perfect size and shape. I can easily fit my card holder, lipstick, keys, small purse and other small necessities. I often also squeeze my Sony RX100 V compact camera too! Surely it also looks classic at the right price. It can be worn cross-body (yay, hands free!), shoulder and top handle.

I love the antique silver hardware and the tiger head spur. Because of its classic beige/ebony GG supreme canvas, it goes with any outfit I wear. I can take it to a wedding or on a night out. I just love the quality, the detail and so glad I went for it.

A little tip:

As it’s also made of suede, I’d highly recommend protecting it with water repellent spray to keep it clean. It really works!

What I don’t love

The strap of the bag is too long for a 5 feet short little girl like me, when you wear it as shoulder or cross-body. What I realize is, the whole Dionysus line probably uses the same strap length, so the wider the bag, the shorter the chain. So the drop of it varies. You know what I mean? I did get in contact with Gucci to find out if it’s possible to shorten the strap but was told it’s the “design”. Well, obviously it didn’t stop me from buying the bag and there is a way to kind of shorten it and it works pretty well. See picture below.

How I wear it

I’m really really in love with! I even took it to New York City in September, to just shoot with it. The best thing about this line is, there are so many sizes and feature colours to find your perfect one (and no, I’m not getting paid for this, ha!).

Hi, does it fall off your shoulders when you wear the chain doubled up?
